I’ve always been skeptical of stretch mark creams. No, that’s not entirely correct-I’ve always been skeptical of beauty products, not just of stretch mark creams.
In general, the pricier the product, the higher my skepticism.
Blame it on my penny-pinching Swiss-German roots, or the fact that I was raised in a granola-hippie environment, but I’ve always believed the only difference between L’Occitane and Cetaphil is the French name. Both are gentle alternatives to soap and both are equally effective; Cetaphil could very well be L’Occitane minus the fancy hogwash!
Just recently, a friend told me about Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention. I would have dismissed the raves right off had I heard it from the usual people. But I’ve known this friend for close to 10 years, and he’s not the type to dispense advice about beauty products. He’s not gay, and does not work for the cosmetics industry. But it turns out, he has been using Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention for two months instead of a moisturizer! He slaps the product all over his body, particularly on the chest and the arms, because he has been hitting the gym and is worried the sudden change in physique will give him stretch marks.
I went to the website (it’s the Swiss-German roots at work, I tell you!) because I never buy anything without finding out about it first. I was surprised by what I found. First off, it’s not every day you come across a product that does not promise miracles.
But Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention doesn’t, and this paragraph sold me on the product, more than anything else:
“While other products offer to make stretch marks disappear completely, we will offer you a product that truly works and we will only promise you our realistic results: it is very hard to remove stretch marks completely. A great product, such as our Stretch Mark Prevention cream, will significantly diminish the appearance of stretch marks, but we cannot guarantee they will be gone completely. While others may just offer promises, we offer a product that truly delivers and proves itself.”
Anyone who knows anything about stretch marks can tell you there is no cream in the planet that can peel them off your skin, like sunburns. And, any product that tells you otherwise is lying through its teeth. Not Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention. It doesn’t promise miracles, doesn’t guarantee an instant fix. Instead, it promises results that are backed by science. So I tried it.
Imagine my surprise when it actually made good on its promise! This is what I found, after 3 weeks of use: my pores no longer gape at me, the fine lines around my belly no longer scream for attention, and my skin looks dewy.
Of course, my stomach area doesn’t look anything like Jessica Biel’s but Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention never promised me it would. So no, I’m still not breathtakingly velvety to the touch, but my skin looks smoother. A few weeks more, and I’ll pronounce myself bikini-ready.
Revitol can officially claim me one of their converts.
